Students served: Ages 11–14. Beta is currently admitting middle school–aged students who have an abiding interest in learning that motivates a strong work ethic. Beta conducts the admissions program without respect to race, color, religious disposition, creed, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Model/philosophy: Beta is an Austin micro-school that is a collaborative effort between parents, teachers, and students. Its goal is to put into practice what works best for the children to become literate, capable, diligent, critical thinkers who have learned to persevere and become active members of the school community. Beta School believes that children need to be provided with instruction that is as individualized as possible. Beta students feel safe and respected and gain a wealth of experiences as well a sense of accomplishment from all of their hard work.
Special features: Beta School of Austin provides a relaxed, homelike environment. It is a great place for gifted students, students with anxiety issues, high-achieving students, and students with attention issues who would benefit from a very small group environment.
Schedule: 9:30am–3:30pm Monday–Friday. Follows AISD calendar.
