We invite your organization to participate in Alt Ed Austin’s second annual Festival of Learning!
Alt Ed Austin is proud to bring our community's attention to the abundance and diversity of unconventional learning opportunities we are so fortunate to have in the Austin area. The festival will feature informational and activity booths hosted from 10am to 1pm by innovative learner-centered schools, preschools, and other programs serving all ages.
The event is free for the public to attend and affordable for small schools and organizations to participate in. A portion of your booth fees will help pay for a strategic advertising and media campaign to build strong attendance, as well as carefully designed signage to make sure folks find their way to the various sections of the festival and to each of the participating programs that might interest them. Another portion of your booth fees will be donated to the nonprofit Education Transformation Alliance.
We are pleased to announce that we have secured a wonderful venue for this year’s festival: the historic Browning Hangar in the Mueller neighborhood (4550 Mueller Central Drive, Austin, TX 78722). It is an open-air venue that is completely covered by a soaring arched roof, familiar to the hundreds of people who visit the Texas Farmers’ Market there every Sunday. Free parking is available in adjacent public lots, along with additional free and paid parking on surrounding streets. Directly across from the Hangar is the popular Mueller Trailer Eats food park, where festival goers can grab breakfast or lunch. We expect some spontaneous and “spillover” traffic to our event from the many families who frequent the food court, Mueller Central, and the businesses, residences, parks, and trails surrounding the Hangar.
Register soon! Booth spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
We are currently offering an early-bird sale price of $200; on October 1, the booth fee goes up to $300.
A few notes to keep in mind before you register:
On the day of the event, please arrive between 9am and 9:30am to set up your booth, and be ready to interact with attendees starting at 10am.
Please keep your booth open until our official ending time of 1pm; after that, you may begin breaking down your booth; everyone must be cleaned up and off the Hangar grounds by 2pm.
Afterward, you’re invited to gather at the food court to debrief, celebrate, and get to know your colleagues in the Alt Ed Austin community.
Your registration for the Alt Ed Austin Festival of Learning guarantees you an open-air booth space measuring 10 feet x 10 feet under the roof of the historic Browning Hangar.
Your booth space will include a standard table (6 feet long x 30 inches wide) and 2 chairs provided at no extra cost.
Please bring your own table covering.
You may bring additional seating and/or other furnishings, with your entire booth setup not to exceed 10 feet by 10 feet.
You may also bring a pop-up canopy if you’d like, not to exceed 10 feet x 10 feet.
Any banners or other signage must either hang from your table, sit atop your table, hang from your pop-up canopy (if you choose to bring one), or stand on the ground next to your table without impeding access or views to other booths.
A limited number of booth spaces will have access to electrical outlets. If you need one of these, please indicate this on your registration form. We may not be able to accommodate everyone, so please don’t ask for electricity if you don’t really intend to use it for your display or activities.
You will find more details for participating organizations in the booth registration form and in follow-up emails later in the fall.
We can't wait for November 9, and we hope you will join us at the Festival of Learning!
