5701 Cameron Road
Austin, TX 78723

Current enrollment: 60–70 learners; rolling admissions year-round
Model/philosophy: Ascent Academy exists to help each child find a calling to change the world. This isn’t about a single passion or a fixed purpose. It’s the capacity to choose a path, and the muscle to commit to it, persevere through the hard parts, celebrate the journey, and reflect honestly along the way. Ascent is a one-room schoolhouse built on the Hero’s Journey, anchored in Socratic discussion instead of lectures and rigorous, adaptive work instead of one pace for everyone. Ascent trusts young people with real challenges and real choices, because children are capable of far more than most schools ever ask of them.
Special features: Nearly two acres in Windsor Park with an orchard, a yurt, a growing urban orchard, a chicken coop, and an all-weather Spark Play area where learners build, climb, and can get muddy every day! Learning grows with the child, from an anchor and fortification of wonder and curiosity in the early years to layering on real adventures and rigorous work in adolescence
Schedule: 8am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday; seven sessions with a student break every 5–6 weeks; school begins in early September and ends in mid July
Tuition: $17,285 for 2026–2027; sibling discounts and limited Hero Grants (scholarships) available
